Mike Darr

Coach Darr enters his fourth year as Head Football Coach.  This is his 16th year coaching at the Community College level and his seventh here at DVC.  Coach Darr is also the Defensive Coordinator and Defensive Backs Coach.  Prior to coming to DVC he spent six seasons at Los Medanos College.  At both schools, the defenses he helped coach were perennially ranked in the top 10 in the state.  Considered one of the most aggressive schemes in community college football, the defense at DVC has led the state in sacks, turnovers and points scored by the defense.

Before graduating from Clayton Valley High School, coach Darr was a four sport athlete, competing in football, basketball, baseball and track.  Also a graduate of DVC, coach Darr was a two year starter at Safety.  His sophomore year, he was an All-Conference selection and the defensive team captain of the undefeated 1989 Vikings.  Coach Darr's bout with cancer and his hard-nosed play led his teammates to vote him the team's Most Inspirational Player.  After DVC, coach Darr transferred to Sac State, then finished his playing career at Chico State where he was an Academic All-American.

Coach Darr received his AA from Diablo Valley College, his BA from Chico State University and his MA from St. Mary's College.  He lives in Concord with his wife Laura and two children, Haley (11) and Tyler (8).
